[Learn how chiropractic care could benefit your body]Story by Tara Ekren Photography provided by Essentia Health Whether you were shoveling out after one of our many winter storms or enjoying a pickup game of basketball, that nagging pain in your lower back just won’t go away. What are your treatment options? Taking a pain reliever or anti-inflammatory drug might lessen the pain, but it won’t fix the actual problem causing the pain. Chiropractic care is a holistic approach to providing health care which focuses on disorders of the musculoskeletal system, the nervous system and the effects of these disorders on general health. Chiropractic care is most often used to treat neuromusculoskeletal complaints, including but not limited to back pain, neck pain, pain in the joints of the arms or legs and headaches. According to the American Chiropractic Association, a Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) practices a drug-free approach to health care that includes patient examination, diagnosis and treatment. Chiropractors have broad diagnostic skills and are also trained to recommend therapeutic and rehabilitative exercises, as well as to provide nutritional, dietary and lifestyle coaching. |
