[Inside the New Jordahl Custom Homes Design Center]Story by Tracy Nicholson Photography by Dan Francis Photography While 2018 celebrated a milestone 20 years in business, Jordahl Custom Homes entered the new year ready to elevate the homebuilding experience. Making the move and settling into a more flexible space, Jordahl Custom Homes has recently opened their stunning new office and state-of-the-art Design Center on Sheyenne Street in West Fargo. Inside their new Design Center, homeowners are invited to work one-on-one with a designer while browsing the latest in Smart Home technology, design trends and expanded finish selections. See how this interactive experience is designed to simplify the process and expand your dream home horizons. Jordahl's Journey With substantial growth in all three of their divisions, Meridian Property Management, Jordahl Custom Homes' homebuilding and remodeling, this year marked a perfect time to make the move and unite all three branches under one roof. “Technology and personal touch are what this new location is about,” said Rob Jordahl, President of Jordahl Custom Homes. “We want our client’s homebuilding and design experience to be exciting and stress-free. Our Design Center offers a first-class home buying experience with superior design service and the best-of-the-best design features, all in one place.” Welcome Home Inside their new location, guests are welcomed home with instant inspiration. A geometric-influenced, white-washed cedar reception area with custom coffee station, is the first hint of what's to come beyond the glass doors of the Design Center. "The coffee station features a Half-X door style that we just recently designed," said Director of Design, Katie Kern. "You'll see influences of these lines throughout the office and Design Center. The station also features another emerging trend of using lighter wood and stains with options like knotty alder, rustic hickory, and this one, soft maple. With the word 'soft' in its name, it can be misleading because it's actually harder than alder and just as hard as cherry. I also like the soft maple because it has more variation than the classic hard maple." The Design Center Throughout the Design Center, a series of kitchen, mudroom and bathroom vignettes offer a first-hand glimpse inside the latest trends in cabinetry, countertops, lighting, tile, plumbing, flooring and hardware. Clients are invited to personalize their home's interior and exterior, working one-on-one with design experts to guide them through their selections. "Homebuilding is an experience and we want the new Design Center to be an interactive space where clients can explore, see and feel all of the options, instead of running all over town," said Executive Vice President, Suzie Rohde. "It's all about creating a better experience so people can really enjoy customizing their home through a stress-free process and unlimited design assistance. We offer the same high level of design services to all of our clients; from first-time homebuyers to those looking for the completely-custom build." Concept Kitchen #1 In the first kitchen concept, the team chose lower cabinetry painted in a deep Salamander green with off-white painted uppers and brushed brass hardware. The gorgeous perimeter features quartz countertops with a versatile triangle tile backsplash that can be installed in a variety of patterns. With cutting-edge design in mind, this kitchen is centered around a stunning light feature and painted island with walnut butcher block. Concept Kitchen #2
Make your own Mood Board To help clients visualize how their finishes will coordinate, eye-level shelves were installed around the showroom meeting areas. These shelves act as a type of mood board, allowing homeowners to easily display and compare samples of their selections. The Tech Wall Offering an area devoted to Smart Home features, The Tech Wall is designed to showcase an array of app-controlled touchscreens and iPad ports. According to Rohde, integrated technology is no longer an upgraded option reserved for elite and high-priced homes; this is becoming a standardized option nearly all new homeowners are asking for. No Parents Allowed! While adults are busy perusing the selections, kids can focus on fun in their own high-design, interactive alcove. This area showcases unique applications of geometric, reclaimed wood tile, hot wallcovering trends and a chalkboard wall made for inspiring creativity. Build Beautifully, Remodel Right Beyond the new build, Jordahl Custom Homes has already expanded to respond to the recent demand for remodeling. "We're well-known in the area for building new homes, but not everyone realizes that we have a Remodel Division," said Rohde. "There is definitely an increasing need, so it's an important part of the business that we want homeowners to know about." Backing their Builds With confidence in their product and new space, Jordahl Custom Homes has just launched a new two-year warranty program, which backs up their work above and beyond the industry norm of one-year warranties. Mark your Calendar! Tour five of Jordahl Custom Homes' latest models on the HBA Spring Parade of Homes. This year they will be showcasing plenty of design inspiration, new floorplans and three homes with integrated Smart Home features. The 2019 parade offers tour goers three weekends starting on May 4th.
