[Kari Rasmus - Designingwomen2]
Story and Photography by Kari Rasmus, Designingwomen2
This year’s Las Vegas market once again inspired us to push the envelope in design. Featuring over 4,000 furniture and décor lines, it's smaller than the North Carolina market, but it highlights the latest styles in a big way. While the North Carolina market offers more in traditional design, the west coast influence in Las Vegas is evident around every corner. The décor is edgier, more creative and organic. It is often just the ticket for those looking to replace just a few pieces or perhaps furnish an entire home.

[Trever Hill Design]
Story by Trever Hill with Tracy Nicholson

My work takes me all over the region and sometimes across the country, but the lakes area is always a favorite destination, even in the winter months. This time, a new design challenge led me to Walker, Minn., where I met the Winter family and got a chance to refresh their living space. By the time we finished, every surface on the main level had gotten a makeover and a once dated space was lightened, brightened and given a fresh new life.

During one of the snowiest months in recent history, our team escaped the cold and headed to the lakes for a stunning home tour of a redesign with Linda Birmingham and Julie Erickson of Designingwomen2. With the home's exterior offering a more rustic cabin curb appeal, DW2 found interior brilliance creating high-contrast with vibrant pops of color and a fresh coastal style. See how the team worked with Diamond Edge Construction to transform Karla and Kim Larson's knotty pine and hickory home, with bright ideas and beach-inspired bliss.

There are roughly 11 acres of gorgeous, treed parkland surrounding the Heritage Hjemkomst Interpretive Center in Moorhead, Minn. For most residents of Fargo-Moorhead, this area is reserved for field trips, the occasional river hike or historic and Nordic celebrations. For Kaeli Wendt, this is her backyard at the One Riverside Condos in Moorhead. Inside its 1978 facade, Wendt found a gem that would make for the perfect project. As a kitchen and bath designer in her family's Moorhead business, Wendt Cabinets & Countertops, she had a team of experts at her fingertips to help her reconfigure an outdated space into a modern marvel.
