Mahira Mustafic first arrived in the United States at just three years old. Mustafic’s parents relocated from Bosnia on a refugee status back in 1998. As luck would have it, the family ended up in Fargo, N.D., and have called it home ever since.

Mustafic received a Business Management degree from M-State in Moorhead, Minn., and now owns H&M Cleaning. Her company services post-construction cleaning for commercial and residential properties. Spending a large amount of time in newly built homes, Mustafic gathered a distinct idea of what she wanted in her own future place.

The midcentury modern style in homes seems to be as popular now as it was when this stunning form of architecture first came to light. “Midcentury modern” refers to the simplistic and calming style found within the homes built between the end of World War II (1945) and the mid-1970s. In addition to Americans wanting more of an open-concept in their homes, they loved the idea of single-level living on larger plots of lands and the feel of space. For those who were fortunate enough to grow up in one of these homes and are now reaching adulthood, the nostalgia of a simpler way of life has helped raise the demand.
