On the road again with Designingwomen2
Story & Photography by Kari Rasmus, DW2
We always look forward to the Las Vegas World Market and our chance to share with you the latest design trends. This year’s market did not disappoint. While the finds were not substantially different from previous years’, there were new twists on old ideas that we can't wait to bring to Fargo. But, let’s back up for a moment. We implore you, please don’t follow a trend unless it speaks to you; a trend, by its very nature, is mercurial and temporary. On the flip side, choosing the right trends can keep your environment looking fresh. So, in the interest of staying fresh, we're taking you to Market to show you DW2 partners’ favorite looks.

Although most of Sue Stite's adult life has been spent living in Reno, Nevada, she is a North Fargo native who's dreamed of living the lake life since she was seven-years-old. Two months ago, her dream finally came true, thanks to the talents of her architect daughter, Julie Stites, Fargo Modern Homes and Linda Birmingham of Designingwomen2. This summer, she and her partner, Skip Houk, are happily settled into an impressive, contemporary lake home on the sandy shores of Lake Eunice, Minnesota.

This year’s Las Vegas market once again inspired us to push the envelope in design. Featuring over 4,000 furniture and décor lines, it's smaller than the North Carolina market, but it highlights the latest styles in a big way. While the North Carolina market offers more in traditional design, the west coast influence in Las Vegas is evident around every corner. The décor is edgier, more creative and organic. It is often just the ticket for those looking to replace just a few pieces or perhaps furnish an entire home.

During one of the snowiest months in recent history, our team escaped the cold and headed to the lakes for a stunning home tour of a redesign with Linda Birmingham and Julie Erickson of Designingwomen2. With the home's exterior offering a more rustic cabin curb appeal, DW2 found interior brilliance creating high-contrast with vibrant pops of color and a fresh coastal style. See how the team worked with Diamond Edge Construction to transform Karla and Kim Larson's knotty pine and hickory home, with bright ideas and beach-inspired bliss.
