[ Jordahl Custom Homes ]Story by Alexis Swenson Photography by Micah Zimmerman, Amdak Productions The HBA's Parade of Homes is the perfect time to show off the latest and greatest throughout the industry. For veteran builders like Jordahl Custom Homes, this meant revealing a brand new floor plan in The Wilds neighborhood of West Fargo. Designed by all five Jordahl Custom Homes’ in-house designers, then staged by Willow Lane Interiors, their two-story offers a fresh Mid-century vibe with a hint of Scandinavian flair. Summit's Style To create their new floor plan, The Summit, Jordahl Custom Homes’ design team worked together to incorporate the most popular options that homeowners were asking for. With the concept to keep it affordable, they got creative, swapping ideas and finding solutions to design a home with high function and great style. Their new floor plan offers a total of 2,354 square feet with 1,628 finished, appealing to families wishing to grow into the space. The home's finished features include three bedrooms on the upper level, two-and-a-half bathrooms, a fully-finished two stall garage, mudroom, upper level laundry, master suite, a Smart Home package and nine-foot ceilings on the main level. An unfinished basement means homeowners can put their own equity into it, adding in the fourth bedroom, another bathroom and a family room, at their own pace. “People were looking for a more affordable home, but still wanted the two story with three bedrooms upstairs. Taking that into consideration, we created The Summit floor plan, which is a happy medium. When people are looking at homes, their heavy-hitting inspiration spaces are going to be the kitchen and the master suite, so we designed those areas to be more upscale,” said Amanda Voss. Modern Minimalist While white cabinetry has been dominating new construction for the past few years, the design team at Jordahl Custom Homes is ahead of the game. Choosing two contrasting tones of flat cabinetry with minimalist hardware offers a unique nod to Scandinavian design. The result is a contemporary, yet inviting kitchen which allows beautiful details like the quartz countertops and linear tile backsplash to shine. “During the Parade of Homes, we heard a lot of really great comments on the kitchen cabinetry just because it’s so different. People loved the European- inspired flat cabinets, the minimal handle design and that it wasn’t all white,” said Nicole Rygh. Staged & Styled Since the Parade of Homes is one of their busiest times of the year, Jordahl Custom Homes recruited Willow Lane Interiors to assist with staging the house for potential buyers. "The design team gave Willow Lane an idea of what was envisioned and let them run with it. We wanted to emphasize the Mid-century, rustic modern feel. They did a really great job incorporating the right pieces, making everything flow nicely together," said Designer, Ashley Potulny. Step-by-Step Style Creating a complementary visual on the main level, the home's unique stairs and handrail are a big step above the standard. A wider stair features a wood slat railing, custom-built in a painted black poplar. “We’ve found that the wider staircases are a really popular feature, so that has become a standard for our houses. It’s something that we create to ensure a better experience for the client,” said Voss. Upper Level Love On the second story, the floor plan is custom designed to keep families close; including a spacious master suite, guest bathroom, laundry and two additional bedrooms. Master the Suite In the master suite, the design team created a relaxing retreat with a design savvy bath; proving that even more affordable finishes can look and feel upscale. “With the technologies that are available now, sheet vinyl has the texture and appearance of an expensive floor tile. You can get the high-end look at an affordable cost. This is just one example of many affordable ways to design your home and still make an impact,” said Potulny. The suite also features a walk-in seated shower, a massive walk-in closet, linen closet, and knotty alder cabinetry with a Scandinavian aesthetic. Living Large on a Smaller Footprint “People are coming to us everyday wanting less maintenance, so we are meeting those needs by offering lots that are more affordable and a little bit smaller. They also come to us with a budget and still want to make sure that they can travel, send their kids to a good school, and live a full life,” said Voss. A Smart New Standard Included in all of the homes built by Jordahl Custom Homes is a Smart Home package. “This package is something that we do exclusively in our homes that sets us apart in the market. We have Signature Home Technologies come in after they’ve moved in, set it up to work specifically for that family, then walk homeowners through so they will know how to use it,” said Rygh. According to Rygh, homeowner’s needs and peace of mind guide every build at Jordahl Custom Homes. All of their homes come with a two-year warranty that covers everything from learning how to use your new home, to a water heater malfunction, to the repairing of sheetrock settling cracks. "We are so confident in our product, process, and people that we've taken our one-year warranty and doubled it. This allows our homeowners to move into an affordable home and have peace of mind knowing that we stand behind the product." Find the home:
