Edition 53: Minnesota, Nice!
With Valentine’s Day, the month of February is all about love. Let's all remind ourselves that love can take many forms, and all of them are worth discovering. Be sure to celebrate not only the love you have for others, but the love you have for yourself. Although self-care is important year-round, let's use Valentine's Day as an excuse to treat ourselves this month!

Edition 52: Minnesota, Nice!
For the New Year, we decided it would be nice to take a look "across the river" and share with our readers some new and not so new businesses, and one beautiful remodel from the Minnesota side. As a North Dakota resident living in Fargo, I have to admit that I get into my same routines and thoughts of all things Fargo. It was a good reboot to reopen my mind and to learn about how the Minnesota side of our community is growing and changing. The Rail District in Dilworth is a beautiful new development that complements the area and we are excited to share pictures and their stories with you. I love all the old good feels the businesses in this edition capture while doing business in the new age. Although we are only able to share a small sliver of some of these Minnesota gems, I hope you will all take a peak at what is happening across the river -- no matter what side you are on.

Edition 51: Magical Merriment
This month's save the date is full of lots of fun holiday events and more. I am so happy to see these events coming back to the community, and we are hoping to be able to showcase some of them next year!
Next month will be the start of a new year, and the crew at Midwest Nest is excited to keep inspiring our readers to connect with the community by capturing cuisine, art, design, culture and worldly inspiration. We want to continue to encourage our readers to become more involved in this community, follow their passions and support regional businesses. See you all next year! With Midwest regard,
Edition 50: Grateful GatheringsThe temperature is dipping down fast, the holidays are quickly approaching and everyone is getting busier. As we embrace our own traditions with friends and family, let's make sure we take the time to be grateful for these opportunities and know that not all holidays and celebrations have to fit a conventional mold. Not everyone spends the holidays with family, not everyone spends it with friends -- and that's okay. Everyone should share the joy and compliments of the holiday season in ways that make them happy. Be kind to those who celebrate differently than us and offer a spot to those who may have lost loved ones. There is always room to create new traditions of joy, cheer and love.

Edition 48: Savoring SummerWe had a blast at the Plains Art Museum Summer Gala and are now switching gears to focus on our 4th Annual Design Challenge, happening this month! We have enjoyed putting together this event every year, and I am so proud of our team for winning the 2020 Best Niche Promotion or Contest, awarded for the annual Design Challenge. This year, we have partnered with SCHEELS Home & Hardware and are giving students from NDSU's interior design program the chance to showcase their talents. Led by NDSU interior design professor Susan Rey-Degges and coached by SCHEELS design experts Morgan Diehl-May and Leah Martin, the student design teams will have four hours to put together a vignette at SCHEELS Home & Hardware on Sept 12, 2021. I hope to see you there cheering on your favorite team!

Edition 47: Beauty on BroadwayThis month, a bulk of our focus has been on the downtown area with two beautiful stories on the new Jasper Hotel and Rosewild restaurant on Broadway. We are also ready to dance, dine and mingle at the Plains Art Museum Gala - we hope to see you there. Although it feels like summer is flying by fast, we still have weeks left of enjoying the sun and warm weather. And once it all does disappear, Fargo has us covered with tons of upcoming fall and winter events! I have to say, some of the best memories come from days with snow on the ground and that cold wind in the air.

Edition 41: get involved - give to love, love to giveGiving Hearts Day is more than one day. It leads to a lifetime of generosity. Individuals, businesses, and schools alike are called to share in the joy of giving. We encourage you to immerse yourself in the celebration, whether it be through your time, talents, or voice. With nearly 500 charities participating, there is an abundance of ways to help. We have the resources for you to maximize your efforts with the charity(ies) your heart chooses. Find your role in the wave of giving that is flooding the region. Give wholeheartedly this Giving Hearts Day.
Giving Hearts Day is a 24-hour fundraising event for charities in North Dakota and northwest Minnesota. Since the first event in 2008, generous donors have given more than $90 million, 100% of which goes directly to participating charities. Giving Hearts Day 2021 will be held on Thursday, February 11. Join us! Edition 40: Here's to Growth + Comfort + Strength in the New YearCheers to a New Year and I hope comfort comes to all after everything we have had to endure last year. I hope 2021 is a time for us all to grow and reflect on what we learned from the past year.
This may be the year you discover a new passion, such as the story with Amanda Kreidlkamp who stumbled upon her love for art after taking an art class to relieve stress while attending nursing school. If you're looking for some relief and an escape, live-action game experiences are available at Puzzled Escape Room and Fargo Escape Room. For inspiration to those cooking more at home, check out ramshacklepantry.com for recipes and interesting history behind some of the most popular dishes. The unpredictability and stress of last year will only add to our strength and allow us to realize what and who are important in our lives. Here's to us all shedding the weights that have been holding us down and to flying high in 2021!

Edition 39: In Gratitude, We ThriveAs the year is coming to an end, I’m realizing more and more how much I am grateful for! Despite so many changes coming at all of us, I hope the rest of the community is able to find some things within each and every day for which to be appreciative and grateful. Edition 38After the hustle and bustle of this year's Design Challenge, my team and I are ready to head into the festivities of the holidays and onto the final two amazing issues of 2020! This month, the Midwest Nest crew was flattered to be a part of Dan Francis' artwork gracing our cover. We had such a had such a blast during its creation! Throwing it back to days gone by, the word flashback gives a whole new meaning, especially as we enter into this new holiday season. With so many of these new changes among us, celebrations and gatherings are not like they use to be, and we are hoping to offer up a bit of sweet nostalgia of simpler times for our readers to enjoy.
