We like any reason to throw a party, but this past month, Susan and I have two years of reasons to celebrate, and thousands to thank. To show our gratitude in style, we gathered friends, family, readers, team members and supporters to the beautiful rooftop of Pioneer Place in West Fargo.
The highlight of the party was our 2nd Annual Design Challenge with 10 local designers who graciously donated their time and talents. We put them in three teams, asked them to find a table set donor, gave them $500, 24 hours, and a set of keys to one of the empty Pioneer Place apartments. The goal; create the "Best Dining Room Design/Tablescape" - with all furnishings going to Down Home, a local non-profit that helps transition homeless families into permanent housing.
Midway through the contest, the designers asked to change the rules - furniture donations were pouring in and they wanted to extend their design to the living room. This meant a lot more work, but a lot more in donations. We went along with the party guests to tour each apartment and the results were nothing short of spectacular. The designers had once again pulled off the nearly impossible. In a collaboration of kindness via local designers, business owners, and even a few national brands, this year's Design Challenge was a huge success that will go on to help countless families over the next year. Our sincere thanks to everyone who attended, voted, sponsored, donated and designed! So far, we have yet to find anything "terrible" about turning two!
